[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mexports by SM has never really been shy about experimenting with new designs, materials, and manufacturing techniques. We know that our customers expect the best from us and we’re willing to work hard to achieve that result. Our company has endeavored to produce interesting designs that can’t be found anywhere else. We’ve always strived to be unique and our new products are a testament of this fact.

Recently, we at Mexports by SM have started to work with the Vein Cut Travertine Cream. In order to produce them, travertine blocks are rotated and the cuts take place across the vein. With this new option we wanted to give our customers something unique, something that would stand out, and add a different design element to their home.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

ABOUT TRAVERTINE

Travertine is a natural stone, similar to granite, marble, slate, etc. It’s usually found in hot springs and limestone caves. All our travertine comes from a Quarry in South Mexico, where this stone is available in abundance. We first became interested in this after we realized that we needed something new and fresh in our collection.

Travertine is a very interesting stone. It has a slightly rugged appearance, thanks to the carbon dioxide evasion holes. But the color is pale gold and beautiful. This stone can be used in several applications, including stairs and steps, floors, walls, countertops and backsplashes, sinks, and bathrooms, etc.

While we were convinced that we wanted to experiment with this stone, our designer Susana Molina considered travertine a little too dull. Susana wanted something that would be elegant and eye-catching, something that would have a little more oomph, so to speak.

With a little research, we found that 99% of the travertine available in the market was cross-cut. This cutting method didn’t allow the stone’s natural beauty to shine through. There was another cutting method that exposed the true elegance of travertine. The stone block needed to be rotated and cut across the veins.

This exposed the natural patterns and designs of the stone. Needless to say, the end result was stunning and unique and we fell in love with it! Vein-cut travertine is rare and unique, and that’s just what our designers at Mexports wanted.
